Publishing is the final step in the site-building process. When your site is first published, it becomes available for the world to see. (And, we start billing you monthly.)

Even after you first go live with your site, there are several reasons to republish it:

  • You change your preview site and want to make the changes permanent
  • You add or delete pages
  • You want to make sure you have the latest product information from your wholesaler

You can find a link to 'Publish Your Site' on the maintenance page. Remember, everyone can see a published site, so take all the time you need to get your site the way you want it, and use the Preview site to test your changes.

After you publish for the first time, you can access the publishing utility from the Maintenance page whenever you want to republish.

Publishing may take several minutes.

Your site may contain hundreds of pages, and they take time to create. Publishing also requires a lot of processing power. So please, don't publish any more than you need to.

We may not publish your site immediately after you request it. To avoid overloading our servers, we run publishing jobs to run on a schedule. For this reason, we may wait a few minutes before we start publishing your site. You can use the maintenance page to monitor the status of site. Also, we will notify you by email when your site is published.

You can publish pages individually.

If you make only minor changes to your site, you can save time by publishing a page at a time. You will find page publish buttons on the Content page. Note that page publishing is not available for some pages, and is not allowed at all until you publish the whole site at least once.

Note: Some changes cannot be published individually. These include disabled pages (to publish, re-enable them), and certain specialized pages , such as the display.htm page.

Some changes, even minor ones, require republishing the entire site. These include changes to your theme, or to the catalog display pages.

Publishing overwrites existing pages.

Note that we do not delete your existing site before we republish it. This means that if you reduce the size of your catalog, or remove pages from your site, the old pages won't be automatically deleted. Visit the Maintenance page for access to utilities you can use to delete old pages.
