Changing page layouts and catalog widgets, helps you add variety to your site and a personal touch. Changing the way information is presented on pages helps keep the customer's attention.
Widgets are the elements that customers use to relay specific information on your site.
For example: when a customer visits your Catalog page they can use the product grid, a category/mill drop down list, a text list sorted by catagory/mill, or a display of manufacturer's logo to find the merchandise they are looking for. Each one of these options is a widget.
We offer other widgets, including a pricing widget that allows you to markup your wholesaler's prices by percentages or dollar amounts. The following diagram will walk you through changing your catalog widget, but the steps are similar for all widgets on this service.

Changing the widget your site uses is a lot like changing the content of a text block. The widget used is determined on the catalog.htm page of your site which is automatically created when you first choose your theme. Page down for instructions if you have accidentally deleted your catalog page.
To change your current widget click on the Configure button that appears on your preview page.
The next page you see will have a drop down box labeled Available Widgets. Choose one of the widgets in the drop down list and click the Save Changes. You can see your changes by refreshing the page preview or by previewing or publishing the site.

If you have accidentally deleted your catalog page it's easy enough to recreate. Go to the Create Content page and click the Add New Page button at the bottom of the table. You will see thumbnails of page layouts on the left and a View Predefined Layouts button on the right. Click the View Predefined Layouts button. Click the Select button next to the Catalog page. Your catalog page will default to using a grid widget. If you would like to use a different widget refer to the section above. |
