You can add as many new pages to your site as you need. You can give them any name you want, and they can contain any content you want. But there are a few things to keep in mind:
- If your site uses navigation and page header images, you must either give your new page a name that matches one of the theme's set of pre-defined images. Or, you can pay us a nominal fee to create matching images for your new page.
- You can add a new page with the same name of an existing page, but only one page with a given name can be enabled. This is actually a handy feature to have. For example, you can create two pages named 'special.htm,' each with different promotional content. Then you can easily change your site's Specials page by enabling different versions of the page.
To add a new page click the Add New Page at the bottom of the Page List on your Maintenance page.
Adding a page is a five-step step process:
1. Choose A Layout
Layouts control how the page is arranged and what advanced features appear on it. You can choose from two kinds of layouts.
- Blank layouts contain no content of their own, and are designed for adding pages that contain only the content you add to them. There are several blank layouts; they differ in the way they arrange the content blocks on the page.
- Predefined Layouts include sample content as well as advanced features that cannot be added to pages with blank layouts. For example, we include predefined layouts for catalog access, inquiries, and embroidery design display. Note that you can still add unlimited content of your own to pages that use predefined layouts.
When you first select a theme, we include a complete set of predefined pages, so it is normally not necessary to add them yourself.
2. Enter Page Setup Information
Setup information includes the page title, alignment, and navigation behavior.
In most cases, you can accept the default setup values. However, we recommend updating the description if you make changes to your page; this will make it easier to remember what the page contains.
3. Add Content
You add content to pages by adding one or more content blocks. For more information on adding content, please see the help page.
4. Preview the Page
Before you make the page visible, use your preview site to see how it looks and make changes.
5. Publish Your Page
Once you are satisfied with your new page, publish it to make it visible to the Internet.
If your new page is not included in your navigation, you can publish only the page itself. However, if the new page is included in the navigation header, you must re-publish the entire site so tht all pages will include the new navigation link.
